QSC Peptides
Two of the most extensively studied AAS in history. Testosterone is the endogenous androgen reference (100:100); Nandrolone Decanoate (DECA) is the benchmark 19-nor compound (125:37). Their differences in aromatization, 5α-reduction, and progestin activity make them complementary research tools.

This is the single most important pharmacological distinction between testosterone and nandrolone. 5α-reductase converts testosterone to DHT (3–5× higher AR affinity — amplifies androgenicity in skin, prostate, scalp). The same enzyme converts nandrolone to DHN (5α-dihydronandrolone) — which has lower AR affinity than nandrolone itself. This 5α-reduction uniquely reduces nandrolone's androgenicity in 5α-reductase-rich tissues, explaining the low androgenic ratio of 37.
Testosterone aromatizes readily to estradiol (E2) via CYP19A1 in adipose tissue and muscle. Nandrolone aromatizes minimally — approximately 20% of testosterone's aromatization rate — and to estrone (E1, a weaker estrogen) rather than estradiol. Research requiring estrogen control studies should note this fundamental difference.
Testosterone has no progestin receptor (PR) activity. Nandrolone binds PR at ~20% of progesterone's affinity — making it a weak progestin. In research on AAS effects in tissues expressing both AR and PR (uterus, mammary tissue, certain CNS regions), nandrolone offers combined AR/PR activation while testosterone provides isolated AR activation.
